Backyard Bounty : Pumpkin, Raspberries, Cucumbers and More

Posted by stuporglue on Aug 9, 2010 in Fridley Farmer

Like I said in the last post, the garden has been working overtime since late July. Here are some of the happenings we have been enjoying: Aside: Just for fun this post is scheduled to go live at 8/9/10 11:12 (using American dates). Tomatoes I have more than 25 tomato plants in 5 or 6 varieties, most of which have green tomatoes on them. This was the second tomato of the year. Caroline ate the first one before I could get a picture. We have since gathered 15 or so more tomatoes, and a lot look like they’ll be ripe…Read the Rest

Twice Baked Squash for Twice the Fun

Posted by stuporglue on Aug 8, 2010 in Fridley Farmer

Part 1 of the series was Cooking Brazilian Beans, part 2 was Cooking Brazilian Rice. Unfortunately I didn’t…Read the Rest

Garden Fresh Cottage Pie with Summer Squash and Zucchini

Posted by stuporglue on Jul 23, 2010 in Fridley Farmer, Something Interesting

Squash time again! The garden has been producing beans and peas like crazy. We have been able to keep up so far, but posting here has lagged with the work I’ve been doing. This post comes courtesy of a Denver to Salt Lake City flight. I’m headed out to Utah to meet my new boss, pick up a car from Caroline’s Grandpa (he can’t drive anymore) and then driving right back. The squash and zucchini production has been steady: one or two per day, medium sized. Here’s what we did with them early last week. It’s a variation on cottage…Read the Rest
