Fine, thank you berry much

Our midnight strawberries have been putting out leaves just a little faster than the rabbits (or squirrels?) can manage. Most of them look about like this…

…and some are even bigger now. A couple of plants got planted too deep, and they have been struggling, like this one…

…but overall, they’re doing great. It’s very exciting! Sometimes I think I could just sit and watch them grow. It amazes me how you can plant seeds and nothing happens…nothing…nothing…then BAM you walk outside to find 6 inch tall sprouts, or full sized new strawberry leaves or long new growth on your raspberry canes.

Some of our strawberries have been attacked by rabbits. At least, I think it was rabbits. I am working on a full post about what you need to do in Fridley in order to trap and/or kill rabbits if you live in town (hint, it’s stricter than the MN DNR requirements for nuisance animals), but until that is done, does anyone have suggestions for non-lethal/non-trap rabbit deterrents?
